Loco Lime employee runs 10km in aid of men’s mental health charity

On Saturday 30th November, Ben Miles, a local student and employee of Mexican-inspired restaurant Loco Lime, ran 10km to raise money for men’s mental health initiatives. Ben planned his route between Loco Lime’s two restaurants in Dorset, beginning at Helch Market, Bournemouth, and finishing at their new restaurant in The Dolphin Poole.

This 10km sponsored run was completed with fellow BU student, Nataniel Koszyk, with all proceeds going to support men’s mental health charity, Movember.

Ben said, “Participating in the Movember charity run as part of BU Boxing was an incredibly rewarding experience. It was inspiring to see so many people come together to support such an important cause. Our team was thrilled to raise just under £2,000 for men’s health initiatives.

“The running itself was quite hard work as we both had very little cardiac training; however, the support from Loco Lime and The Dolphin added an extra layer of excitement and community spirit which helped us push through. Their support and enthusiasm made the event even more special, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful movement.”

Ben has been employed at Loco Lime for just under a year and is part of a thriving team comprised of several university students from the local area. Loco Lime proudly offers flexible working arrangements to fit their staff’s studying needs and provides valuable hands-on experience in a working kitchen that supports future student placement applications.

The founders of Loco Lime, Arun Kapila-Husband and Zachary Moles, are also alumni of Bournemouth University.

Co-founder Zachary Moles said, “We opened Loco Lime in the summer of 2023 as two Bournemouth University students with a passion for creating Mexican inspired street food using high quality local produce from Dorset.

“From cooking in our home kitchen to now having two locations in Bournemouth and Poole, it’s been a wild journey and we’ve only just begun.”

The sponsored run is the first charity initiative Loco Lime have supported since launching their new restaurant located at The Dolphin Poole in September 2024.

In 2025, Loco Lime is hoping to support even more local charities. Co-founder Arun Kapila-Husband said, “When I was cheffing in London, we ran events for Hospitality Action, and this was a great way to get the community involved and support local causes.

“We’re looking to do more of that here in Poole, as there are lots of local charities doing great work across the BCP area.”

Loco Lime have also recently applied for a premises license to enable them to serve alcohol alongside their mouthwatering menu of birria tacos, burritos and rice bowls.
