Caretober at The Dolphin: supporting young carers in Poole
Some of the people walking through The Dolphin every day are looking after someone at home. They pick up prescriptions, cook meals, help someone get dressed or keep an eye on a brother or sister. Many of them are children or young adults. Most of them do it quietly.
This October The Dolphin is collecting toiletries and pampering products for MYTIME Young Carers, and we are asking Poole to help.

What Caretober is
Caretober is simple. While you are shopping at The Dolphin, pick up one extra toiletry or pampering product, then pop it into the Caretober box on your way out. Everything collected goes to MYTIME Young Carers.
Every donation must be new, unopened and sealed.
Who you are supporting
MYTIME Young Carers supports young people aged 5 to 25 who have an unpaid caring responsibility for a family member or a loved one. The charity helps young carers access the opportunities, friendships and support they deserve.
A body lotion or a face mask is a small thing on its own. For someone who spends most of their week thinking about somebody else, it is half an hour that belongs to them.
What to donate
- Body lotion
- Body spray
- Face masks
- Lip balm
- Shower gel and shampoo
- Bath products
Please make sure every item is new and sealed. If it looks like something you would be pleased to be given, it is right for the box.
Where to find the Caretober box
The collection box is in the mall opposite Starbucks, and it is there for the whole of October. Plenty of stores in the centre sell exactly the sort of thing MYTIME needs, so it takes nothing more than one extra item in your basket and a short detour on the way out.
Dolphin retailers: a second way to help
We are also asking retailers across the centre to support Caretober in a different way. MYTIME can turn an item, a service, a voucher, an experience or a prize into funds through a raffle or an auction, and that money goes directly into supporting young carers.
If you run or manage a store at The Dolphin and would like to offer something, contact Jacqui Greenhaf, Corporate Partnerships Executive at MYTIME Young Carers, who can talk it through or arrange collection.
Spread the word
If you cannot donate this month, you can still help. Tell a friend, share the campaign or mention it to your team at work. FOUNDRY members, local businesses and community groups are all welcome to run their own collection and drop it in together.
We will share the final total once everything has been handed over to MYTIME.
Thank you for showing you care. A little care goes a long way.
