Things to Do in Poole This Weekend: A Free Aladdin Screening and Tasty New Openings

Looking for things to do in Poole this weekend? The Dolphin has a real treat in store. On Saturday 8 August, join us for a free screening of Aladdin on the big screen, then explore three tasty new arrivals in the heart of Poole town centre. From a magical morning film to fresh sweets, thick shakes and wood fired pizza, this weekend is all about family fun. Best of all, much of it is completely free.
A free Aladdin screening on the big screen
Grab a seat and let the little ones be swept away by a magical morning on the big screen. Our free Aladdin screening starts at 11am on Saturday 8 August. There is no booking required, so you can simply turn up and settle in. Because entry is free, it is an easy and low cost way to fill a summer holiday morning. Bring the kids, bring their friends and enjoy a family classic together. Songs, sunshine and a flying carpet make for a lovely start to the weekend. Then wander out into the malls once the credits roll. Since the film runs during the holidays, it is a handy plan for anyone still deciding what to do with the day.
Sweet treats from Mr Simms
Every good film deserves a few treats. Happily, Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe opened at The Dolphin this week, so the timing could not be better. Inside you will find jars of retro favourites, pick and mix by the bagful and sweets you may not have seen since childhood. Pop in before the screening and stock up for the film. While you are there, let the children choose their own little bag of magic.
Shake things up at Shakeaway
Thirsty work, all that film watching. Shakeaway is here to help with milkshakes made your way. Choose from hundreds of flavours then blend in your favourite chocolate bar or sweet. Whether you like it fruity or full of biscuit, there is a cup with your name on it. So treat yourself after the film or grab one to sip while you browse the shops.
Ojo’s Pizza joins STREET FOOD this Saturday
There is even more to celebrate this weekend. Ojo’s Pizza opens in STREET FOOD this Saturday, bringing award winning Neapolitan wood fired pizza to the first floor. Based right here in Poole, Joe and Ollie make everything from scratch using fine Italian ingredients. Their pizzas have earned a loyal local following at events across Dorset, so a permanent home at The Dolphin is a lovely addition. Because each base is cooked fresh, you get that proper crust and simple honest topping every time. Whether you fancy a classic Margherita or something with a bit more punch, this is pizza worth the trip upstairs. After the film, head up to the first floor and make it a real occasion. Plus it sits alongside familiar favourites like Noodlebar and Loco Lime, so there is a plate for every taste in the family.
Make a day of it in Poole town centre
So there you have it, a full day out without the drive out of town. Watch a free film, fill a sweet bag, sip a shake and finish with fresh pizza, all under one roof. The Dolphin sits right in the middle of Poole town centre with parking on site and buses and trains close by. When the weather cannot make up its mind, our doors stay open and dry whatever the day brings. From free family events to brilliant new places to eat, there is always a reason to visit.
