Bournemouth Repair Cafe Pop-Up

Keep your broken items out of landfill. Instead, bring them to the resident fixers from Bournemouth Repair Cafe and have a cuppa whilst your item is fixed for FREE!

Bournemouth Repair Cafe draw upon the DIY skills of local volunteers to fix a wide variety of items, including electrical appliances, computers, clothing and textiles, furniture, ornaments, bicycles and more. Extending the lifetime of any item reduces demand for production of new goods and unnecessary landfill waste, whilst also celebrating and reviving the mending and maintenance skills that will be important in a circular economy of the future.

How it works

1. Walk around the house and collect any household items in need of repair. There’s no need to book, but if you decide which items you’ll be bringing in advance, please do get in touch with Bournemouth Repair Cafe via Facebook or via email. This helps ensure there will be people with relevant skills on hand to help.
2. Bring your broken item to GATHER. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by a friendly volunteer host who will match you with an expert fixer.
3. Talk through the problem and leave your item with an expert fixer to be repaired.
4. While you wait, enjoy browsing around The Dolphin or put your feet up with a cuppa in the repair cafe’s waiting area. A selection of hot and cold drinks will be available.
5. Once your items have been repaired, take them home and enjoy!

This event is free to attend, though donations are very welcome.
